Icicle Divers offer full, friendly and fun training for anyone thinking of taking up scuba diving. You do not pay for training provided by the club! Your annual club fees cover any training that is run by icicle divers, so it is a very cost-effective way of becoming a qualified diver. All training is given by qualified, experienced divers, and is run within the guidelines set by the Sub Aqua Association. Training consists of attending lectures, (which cover the theory side), practical exercises (in the pool and eventually "open" water) and passing a written examination. During your training, you can borrow most equipment through Icicle Divers (however, please note that you can not hire wetsuits or dry-suits from the club and will therefore need your own, or to hire from an alternative source). Training takes about 3 months to reach from complete beginner, to Elementary Diver. Once you have achieved your Elementary Diver qualification, you can continue to increase your experience and level of qualification through Open Water Dive, Club Diver and beyond. As a member of the SAA you will also have access to addition training courses, such as boat handling, first aid, diver rescue and instructor courses. (please note, an additional fee must be paid for these courses, as they are run outside of the club).
